![]() Carmela A. Martino is an author and teacher who lives in Illinois. She completed an MFA in Writing at Vermont College in July 2000. While in the program, she started working on her children's novel, Rosa, Sola. She eventually sold the manuscript to Candlewick Press, and it was published in September, 2005. Before becoming interested in writing for children, Carmela worked as a freelance writer. She's had articles, essays, short stories and poetry published in newspapers and magazines for both adults and children. Carmela has taught writing classes for adults at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois since April 1998. She also teaches children's writing classes at the Hinsdale Center for the Arts. She is available to present writing workshops for both adults and children. To learn more, see the Programs page.
